Bridge over River Kwai

We worked up early for a quick breakfast as the travel agent were coming at 7am to pick us up. Not many hotels we have stayed in serve Parma Ham for breakfast

We were headed to Katchanaburi in western Thailand to visit the Infamous Death Railway also known as The Bridge over River Kwai.First stop was the Allied War Cemetary

Our next stop was a privately run war museum. There was nothing much except for a few train carriages that were rusting away

We came across a booth next to the War Museum. It was the Katchanaburi Safari Park with two young Leopards. For a donation of 100 Bhat you get to feed the Leopard cubs

Feeding time
The Railway line was just a short walk away

The Bridge over River Kwai
We went for the train ride
Over those mountains lie the Thai Myanmar border
The bend here signals the end of our journey. We alighted at the next station and were transported by van to have our lunch

We had our lunch ast one of those floating guesthouses which had been really popular lately
One of the activities if you stay here
The next stop was the hightlight of the tour.We were going to visit the Tiger Temple. We were made to sign liability release forms before our entry. The enclosure is filled with Wild Boars and deer
A lone camel at the park
Entrance to Tiger Canyon
Everyone waits for his turn at the shelter to have his photo taken with the Tigers

Jo tickling a sleeping Tiger
The babies were kept at a different location

In the background is the Abbott of the tiger Temple. His involvement with tigers started when a border police handed him an ophan tiger cub
We were starving when we got back to Bangkok. We stumbled upon this Duck resturant called Prachak. It seems to be really popular with the locals so we decided to try the food here
The sauce for the duck was really good
The Thais do not add any sauce in their Wonton noodles

For 30 Bhat you can get BBQ squid soaked in spicy sauce
Jo could not resist it and decided to buy some more food for supper
For 40 Bhat you could eat Rice with Pig trotters nad intestines cooked in black soya sauce
